Kael AI assistant: knowing its limits

What Kael can't do, and when to get a qualified person to review

Kael, the KaelSite AI assistant, is a powerful helper, but it is still an AI assistant. This article explains what Kael AI can't do, how to treat its answers, and when to bring in a qualified person.

Use Kael with confidence, and with care

The Kael AI assistant is built to save you time and to support your decisions. It is not a substitute for experience, training or professional judgement. Knowing where Kael stops helps you get the most from it safely.

Kael is an AI assistant, so check what matters Like any AI assistant, Kael can sometimes get things wrong or miss context that you can see on site. Treat its answers as a strong starting point, and check anything that affects safety, cost, programme or compliance before you rely on it.

What Kael can't do The Kael AI assistant cannot:

  • Give a professional sign-off. Kael does not approve designs, certify work, declare something safe or give legal or engineering advice.
  • Make a regulatory decision. Kael's analysis and compliance checks are suggestions. A result such as "appears to comply" is not a certificate of compliance.
  • Replace a competent person. Kael supports your inspections, checks and reports. It does not take over responsibility for them.
  • See everything on site. Kael works from the photos, documents, voice notes and records in your account. It cannot see what isn't there.
  • Publish a report for you. Kael drafts, and you review, edit and publish.
  • Change everything in your account. Kael can create and update some records, such as projects, work items, diary entries and datasheets. Other areas, such as your subscription, profile, calendar, clients, communications and support tickets, it can read but not change.
  • Check voice notes for compliance. Compliance checks cover documents and photos.
  • Help with unrelated topics. Kael is focused on KaelSite and construction. It does not write code or answer off-topic requests.
  • Invent answers it doesn't have. If Kael can't find support for an answer, it says so instead of guessing.

Understanding Kael's confidence

  • Analysis findings come with a confidence level. Give extra attention to low-confidence findings.
  • Compliance checks give one of three outcomes: appears to comply, does not appear to comply, or can't tell. "Can't tell" means a person needs to look.

When to get a qualified person to review Always involve a competent or qualified person when:

  • A decision affects the safety of people on or around the site
  • You are signing off, certifying or approving work
  • You are making a legal, contractual or regulatory submission
  • Kael's result is "does not appear to comply" or "can't tell"
  • A finding has low confidence, or something doesn't look right to you
  • The question needs engineering, design or specialist judgement
  • You are working to a rule, standard or specification that is new to you

How to get the best from Kael

  • Give clear, specific questions and name the rule or project you mean.
  • Choose the files you want analysed instead of leaving it open.
  • Review every finding before you confirm it.
  • Edit every AI-drafted report before you publish it.
  • Ask Kael to explain its answer if you are unsure.

Availability Which Kael AI assistant capabilities you can use depends on your account. See the plans page.
